Mr. Yashvardhan Kumar Sinha, IFS, is a seasoned diplomat and in a career in diplomacy spanning over 37 years, he handled several important assignments at the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi and in various Indian diplomatic missions, including as High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and to Sri Lanka. He was also Ambassador of India to Venezuela and Consul General of India in Dubai.
In the Ministry of External Affairs, he served as Deputy Secretary, Joint Secretary and Additional Secretary dealing with Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iran. He joined the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) in August 1981 and superannuated in October 2018. He was appointed as Information Commissioner in the Central Information Commission, New Delhi. On October 3, 2023, he demitted the office of Chief Information Commissioner.

Mr Yashvardhan graduated with Honours in History from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi and did his master’s in history from Delhi University. He has a diploma in Arabic from the American University in Cairo. He was honoured with the Distinguished Xaverian award – 2018 by the St. Xavier’s Alumni Association Patna.

He is the author of an article, “India and the Commonwealth” that was published in the ‘The House’, a magazine of the British Parliament on the eve of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting held in UK. He has also contributed an article entitled “India-UK Relations Post BREXIT” which forms part of the book titled “India’s Foreign Policy in the Post-Covid World Through the Eyes of Indian Diplomats”.
